2017 IN REVIEW

2017 IN REVIEW...OR WHAT TO DO WITH THOSE LEMONS BEING PELTED AT YOU

January - New Years Day - need I say more?

Feeling better?

Another fun bash at Bandy Canyon Ranch - annual Robert Burns Dinner. That's Billionaire Paulina in the middle - savvy business woman, blond, gorgeous, fun loving, kind, drives a black Porsche convertible - wait - am I describing myself? Maybe in another lifetime....

February - I am so grateful for my horse Scotch, who brings me peace, joy, and always keeps me on my toes..

Tangerine thinks she is a dog.

March - CBS Sunday Morning shows beautiful shots of Utah, where Krista is living.

April - Krista visits! It was necessary to dye Easter eggs.

And have a drink in Coronado.

Played a Brooklyn cop in Arsenic and Old Lace with the San Marcos Players. Officer Brophy at your soivice.

May - Kyle graduated from Mira Costa College with Honors!!

June - The State of California sends me a letter stating they want $20,000 for the year our house burned 10 YEARS AGO because they don't think we deserved the refund they sent us and oh by the way have added interest and penalties for a debt we never knew was owed. The IRS also sends a love letter stating I owe $3,000 even though my divorce decree says otherwise. They don't care. Dominoes just keep on falling from the 2007 fire. It's the gift that keeps on giving. Here's how I feel about that:

where's that recipe for Limoncello?

July - Lounging poolside at my friend Carol's resort house. That's how I spell relief.

Also this month, Krista moved back home!!

August - Carla comes to visit from Germany!  More drinking in Coronado.

Girls day in Laguna Beach

Slogan of the Day:

We went to all the beaches - and a lot of bars.. of course Joe's Crab Shack in Oceanside was on the bucket list.

This is right across the street from where I used to live in OB..

and here is the bar I used to hang out at - long before kids..

..my how things have changed..

Carla brought a German market with her. I'm not kidding. We shopped at this market in Flensburg and now it is in Escondido.  Small world.

We're so glad you came to visit us, Carla!

Later in August, Kyle and I went to our time share in Newport Beach.

Whiskey tasting at sunset

They were small glasses - stop judging me.

Visited with Kyle's friends..

OK, just one more drink photo - at Tommy Bahamas. Come on! We were on vacation!

Kyle turned 22 and I baked him a cake - hahahahahahahaha

I joined a wonderful online group, SATORI, with Tristan and Sabrina Truscott. Learning new qigong moves, life skills, and connecting with a lovely, caring community, making new friends.

This was definitely a joyful month, but sadly, there was a sour lemon too - our sweet Golden Retriever, Chelsea, left us this month. We cried and cried.

September - There were a lot of fires here in Southern California this year.  We were on high alert all the way through December and it was all over the news. Even my Dad's 90 year old cousin called me from Texas to make sure we were OK.

Interesting picture, don't you think?? We didn't even notice the shirt until we saw this picture later.

I played Emily Dickinson in a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at The Village Theater in Rancho Santa Fe.  I was the first one to die - in mid sentence, of course. So dramatic. So fun.

October - October 22 marked the 10 year anniversary of the Witch Creek Fire which burned our home and all our possessions to the ground and changed everything.

5 AM at the evacuation area. We had no idea we would never return home.

RIP Casa De Ramon

Moving on to...

Halloween!

Selfie

We have skull ice cubes in Halloween martini glasses, doesn't everyone?

Our neighbors get in the spirit

Chester likes to hand out candy - or water bottles

Pepper guards the door

November - My birthday was surrounded by loved ones, beautiful gifts..

and a trip to Carlsbad Library to hear Dr. Edith Eger, Hungarian Holocaust survivor and still practicing psychologist in La Jolla, speak about her experiences and her amazing book, The Choice. Beautifully written, please read it. Did I mention she is 90?

Kyle and I made our annual road trip to Big Bear with the dogs.

Pepper, is that you?
Creek in Yukaipa

Big Bear Lake

December - Love December, so festive!

Annual All Girls XMAS Party!

Christmas Day!
Ice skating on the beach, Hotel Del Coronado, New Years Eve

The Hotel Del decided it was a good idea to do this to their annual tree (it's upside down). Why?

Goodbye 2017! Thank you, Universe, for all the highs, and please take back those lemons and help me transform them into Limoncello for all of us in 2018!!

A special thank you to all of you who read this whole blog! Many blessings!

  1. Hi Dianne! I enjoyed your year in review. I was glad I could be a small part of it in the LSM Players Play "Arsenic and Old Lace" (I was "Teddy"). There is a celebration of the LSM Players on Wednesday, 1-31. Hope you got the invite and will be there. If you did not get the invite yet, let me know. Hope you are doing well! Tom Smart.
